Spring Poppies

Happy day before April Fools day.
To celebrate that fun day of jokes.
I am sharing with you this fun poppy card.
There is a little bit of foolery involved.
I stamped the image using my distress inks, and then filled in the lines with
more distress ink, and created a kind of watercolor effect.
It's a fun technique that makes your stamping almost disappear.
I finished the card off with a gold embossed sentiment, and some gold washi tape.

I just love how simple this card turned out.
Come back tomorrow for a brand new Challenge.
I can give one little hint..... Think up in the air....

Happy Easter

Hi everyone Myoriah here today to wish you a Happy Easter. I only have the sentiment from the Unmounted sentiments 1 and no other Easter stamps but with a little bit of ingenuity and the Small House Wren stamp I was able to make a Easter card.

I saw a package of flower napkins at a thrift store and knew they would be perfect for a background for Spring cards. While adhering napkins to card I got the idea for this card. Because the design was smaller than the size of card I wanted to make I adhered it to black card stock.

I cut my egg out with my electronic cutting machine. I got the egg wet and then used water color paint. After the paint was dry I discovered my white ink pad was dead so used Sorbet Memento ink with a stencil for some different sizes of circles.

The sentiment tag was in my stash because it was too small for another project. I thought it would work perfectly for this card. Instead of stamping it with black ink I used brown.

The bird was stamped on waxfibre paper using the same Stazon ink. I colored the beak on the backside of the stamped image and cut free form.

Thank you for stopping by. From me and the rest of the design team we wish you a Happy Easter. Also just a reminder that you still have time to enter this month's challenge. Details can be found here. http://justforfunrubberstamps.blogspot.com/2016/03/celebrate-spring-challenge.html

Spring Bird Houses

Heidi here with my Spring Bird House card.  Every morning when I take the dogs outside, I hear tons of birds happy that spring is in the air.  I saw the bird house stamp and thought it would be very appropriate for this time of year.  I had some wood birds that I wanted to use with water color markers to color them.  I think they turned out very cute.  I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter and Spring!  Hope you like the card!  Here's to the birds and spring weather!

This is a sample I made for a Make & Take last weekend.  It is one of my DH coast photo I stamped.  Use Staz-On Inks because photos are non-porous.

  • Seagull      B3695
  • Sandcastle - small  B3376
  • Sand - C413  Yes, I added more sand to the sand.  I really like the effect.

He Has Risen

Despite how the weather is acting in some places, it is spring.  This is my favorite season and this coming weekend is one of my favorite holidays – Easter.  For my Easter cards, I like to mix it up with fun, bright bunny and chick cards and more subtle, elegant religious cards.

Today’s card features the Easter Cross.  It is a great combination of the cross and lovely lilies.  I heat embossed the image with detail white embossing powder on kraft cardstock.  I did a little experimenting with colored pencils to get a lighter look behind the image by coloring around it with yellow, and then white, colored pencils.  Then I buffed over this to help blend the coloring and sponged Distress Ink around the outer edges.

I used a mixture of colored pencils and Tombow markers to color the actual image.  I really love how the lilies came out, with the soft white and a little of the craft showing through.

The sentiment, He Has Risen, was stamped with Dusty Concord Distress Ink and die cut with Spellbinders’ Ribbon Banner die.  Before removing the die cut from the die, it was lightly sponged with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A couple St. Patrick's day postcards I made for friends...

For both I started off by monoprinting in a mix of yellow and green gelatos onto heavy watercolor paper.  After they had dried, I spritzed a bit of Fireworks spray over a stencil on the bottom card - I then flipped the inky stencil on to the top card to transfer the remaining ink.

I then added lots of fun stamping thanks to JFF Stamps!  Borders on both cards are from the ribbon & rick rack quad stamp, added the sentiment and a shamrock.

Hope you all have a blessed day!

Geometric Easter

Hi, kReN here with a non-traditional Easter card for you.
You may have guessed by now how much I love JFF Stamps Stamptangle designs.
My Easter card nods to pastels but the boldness of the design makes me happy.
Maybe I will get around to making some bunny cards,
but for now, this Stamptangle flower will go postal
to a friend who also likes bold designs.
Happy Easter!  Happy Spring!
Happy Stamptangling!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

My Irish eyes are smiling today as I share this card with you. I have a ton of clipart and sometimes like to use vintage images. Especially Irish ones although this image is a Dover Sample (you can sign up here to get a newsletter with links to samples) similar images can be found at The Graphic Fairy.

I have been wanting to experiment with cotton fabric and a Gelli Plate. For the background I used the Gelli Plate with fabric. After I applied the second coat of paint a metallic paint I stamped randomly on the plate with the Shamrock stamp. Those are the light almost ghost shamrocks. Then I decided to see about stamping with acrylic paint using the same stamp but a darker green paint. I painted the paint on the stamp with a sponge brush.

After I cut out my tag I stamped the St. Patrick sentiment. Then I colored the Celtic designs with a green glaze pen.

The lady is a print and cut. After cutting her out using my electric cutting machine I edged around the cutout  with black. The lady is pop dotted.

If you have a Gelli Plate don't be afraid to experiment using stamps with it. Also don't be afraid to experiment with stamping on fabric using acrylic paint.

Thank you for stopping by. Wishing you a Happy St. Patrick Day! May the luck of the Irish be with you! Also don't forget that the challenge is still on. Details can be found here. http://justforfunrubberstamps.blogspot.com/2016/03/celebrate-spring-challenge.html

It's A Cupcake Birthday!

Hi Everyone!  Happy March!  It's almost  Spring!  We have been getting lots of rain here, but that's good, because our summers have been hot and dry.  I will take the rain so there won't be as many fires this summer, I hope.  I thought about birthday cards and that I need to prepare for a bunch of upcoming birthdays.  I just love this cupcake stamp from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps.  So I  added some fun bright colors and came up with quick birthday card.
Now I just need to make a dozen!
Hope you have a great weekend!

Hugs, Heidi

New Technique

One more week until Create-a-Retreat at Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville, Oregon.

Here is the other card I will be teaching in my class.  Using the perforator tool & an old ink pad, you can make faux stitch marks.

The bottom photo shows the lines up close.  Cool huh?

Lighthouses

I'm Bring back an oldie but goodie called Grid technique.  Now if you remember this technique can be done in several different ways but for today I'm doing it my favorite way...with stipple brushes.  Stipple brushes are a tool that have been in my stash for twenty years and I always fall back on them because stipple brushes are a stamper's best friend!  They are a tool that can blend inks in different ways and the best reason is they can cover up mistakes ..... like if you get an inky fingerprint on your project ... you know you've done that ... well, just get out old faithful stipple brush ... tap, tap, tap and viola!!! a mistake is now embraced into your project.  As I always say, "there are no mistakes in stamping just happy accidents!"
watch my video here or on you tube to see how I created this lighthouse grid card and if you like it give it a thumbs up.  thank you.

Little birdie

Good morning.
Diana here, today I'm sharing this fun little card I made.
I adore the set of bird stamps over at Just For Fun Stamps,
So I wanted him front and center.
The cool thing about these stamps is the zentangle qualities that lend themselves to coloring.
I used my watercolors to paint the blue background, and the bird as well.
I love the little sentiment to finish it all off.
I hope you are having a wonderful day, and that you fly by to tell someone hi yourself.

Birthday Daisies

Today I wanted to share a card I made sticking with our first challenge theme - Spring.

I created this card by blending several colors of PanPastels over a white card panel.  I then inked various JFF daisy stamps with VersaMark medium and stamped it onto the panel.  The stamps with help from the VersaMark ink pick up the PanPastels leaving behind their ghostly impression.  I repeated this process several times and left the ink to dry.  I then sealed the remaining pastels with a coat of regular old hair spray.

Once the hairspray had dried, I added a bit of glitter to the center of each flower, added the die cut and mounted the panel on a blue card blank.

Hope you are inspired to join in on the challenge -

Have a wonderful day friends!
