Coming Up Shamrocks

"O Paddy dear, and did ye hear the news that's goin' round?
The shamrock is by law forbid to grow on Irish ground."

Luckily there is no law that says you can't use shamrocks in your crafting. And if you want a shamrock as a focal point but don't have a stamp don't panic. You can create your own Shamrock using the  Heart Cube like I did for this card.

The background is a napkin from my stash.  I find napkins a frugal way to crate backgrounds so will often use them instead of pattern paper.

I heat embossed three hearts . Then drew my stem with a embossing pen and heat embossed.  I sprayed the embossed pieces with my homemade color mist. Then cut everything out and adhered them in a shamrock shape.

The sentiment is Happy St. Patrick's Day and although it doesn't look like it in the photo it is also heat embossed. I love the Celtic knots this stamp has.

I hope I've inspired you to look at your heart stamps and create shamrocks or clover with them. It is always fun to do something different with a stamp.

Thank you for stopping by and do come back.

Buck Birthday Card

Hi everyone.  My focus this week was a manly birthday card.  They are hard for us to create sometimes right?  I have mostly men in my family and it's difficult sometimes for me to come up with good ideas for cards.  I have the buck stamp and just love him, so I thought why not!  Lets make a manly card.
Here is my Buck Birthday Card.  Hope it inspires you.

Supplies used to make this card:
Just For Fun Stamps;
D3821 Right Facing Buck
F3868 Balsam Branch
WB8011 Greetings Word Block
Wild Wasabi, Garden Green & Old Olive Stampin' Up Ink Pads
Espresso Truffle Memento Ink Pad
Tea Dye Distress Ink
Vanilla Card Stock
Dark Blue Card Stock From Tim Holtz
Corrugated Cardboard
Blue Twine from Tim Holtz
Foam Mounting Tape

I stamped all over my back ground using all three of the green stamp pads with the Balsam Branch stamp.  Then stamped my "Happy Birthday" and my Buck with the espresso truffle ink.  I went around the all the edges of the vanilla paper with the tea dye ink pad to distress it. I mounted the vanilla paper on to the blue card stock, but at a slant.  Then put my corrugated cardboard on and my twine and put my buck on with foam mounting tape.  I also put the sentiment on with the foam mounting tape.
See you next month!
Hugs, Heidi

Below are photos of 5 variations of the  free make & take using several Just For Fun Stamps.  It is quick.  It has to be quick because I hope all 250 participants come & finish their cards over the 2 days of the event & the 6 hours I am putting aside for this freebie.

Look into my crystal ball

stamps used:  crystal ball, segall, pine forest

stamps used:  crystal ball, wren
Sue here with two crystal ball cards.  With an image like this crystal ball you can fill it with anything your imagination can imagine.  For me it is all about the birds today.  First it's a flying seagull over a pine forest, for the blue background I made a reverse mask then blended blue distress inks and colored the base of the crystal ball with Prisma color pencils.  Second card was a little different first I stamped the bird in side the crystal ball then stamped again onto a sheet of double stick tape, cut out the wing, body and beak, all separately.  stuck the double stick to each section then sprinkled different color glitters for this sparkly bird.  Next I just carefully blended some orange distress inks for the background and around the edge of card...a little more work but it's all worth it with the end card.
Till next time...Ink it!  Stamp it!  Use it!

Just stopping by

Wow this year is already flying by!
Today I have a fun little card to share with you all.
I am just in love with this little butterfly stamp (creation)
I love the words on the background, and the way the butterfly really stands out on the paper.
My family lives many many miles away from me, and I love to send them little
cards and creations.
The best is when I do get to visit and I see my cards up on my sister's refrigerator,
or displayed on my mom and dad's bookshelves.

If you are searching for a wonderful butterfly stamp this is a must!

Happy Spring!

I've decided it's time to forget about winter and move on to Spring...

JFF Stamps: Tulip; Happy Spring

This tulip was stamped and embossed onto a piece of watercolor paper.  I then painted it using my Koi watercolors with a bit extra flicked onto the remainder of the panel.  I stamped the Happy Spring and added the little twine bow as the finishing touch!

So, are you with me?
Are we ditchin' winter in favor of Spring?

Maybe if enough of us think Spring we can hurry it along!

From Our House to Yours

Hello, Friends!  It's another wonderful Wednesday
and I have a Valentine's Day card that turned into a birthday card.
I was thinking VDay when I started,
but then wanted it to send it to a friend for his birthday.

I love these house images from JFF Stamps
and I combined them with some original designer paper that I have shown you before.  The gesso top coat reminds me a little of a snowstorm
and since many of you are having a real winter,
I thought I would send you a little color with the imaginary snowstorm.

This card idea can be used for a new home, new baby,
and anytime you want to send a little love to someone.

Live, Love, Laugh!

E. Marie here, hoping everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day.  I had fun spending the day with Just For Fun, helping with their Make N Take at the stamp convention in Columbia, SC.  After a great weekend with lots of delightful stampers, I made it home in time to go out for desert with the hubby.

I have one more Valentine’s card to share, though you easily could use it for other occasions.

The image, StampTangle Garden Heart, was heat embossed in white.  Then the Stacked Blocks stamp was inked with Distress Ink and lightly spritzed with water and stamped across the background, alternating colors.  Excess ink was wiped off of the embossed image and a few splatter drops added.

The sentiment, from the Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet, was stamped with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and a sheer bow and jewels were added to the card front.

Have a wonderful week.

E. Marie

Happy Valentine's Day

Greetings everyone and wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow. Here is the card I made in celebration of the day.

I am so in love with all the stamptangle stamps at Just For Fun. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this Stamptangle Teardrop Heart Stamp

The background is a wet on wet watercolor.  I used a stiff brush for some of the marks.

I tried stamping on watercolor paper but I couldn't get a good image. I stamped on a wax food divider. Then although the photo doesn't do it justice I painted first red Extreme Glitter paint . Then I painted aqua Extreme Glitter paint over the dried red paint and brushed some of the paint  off with a sponge brush.

The sentiment is from the unmounted sentiment number 1 stamp.

Thank you for stopping by.

Cameo Valentine's Day Card

Heidi here with another fun Valentine's Day card.  This one is supper quick for that last minute card.  this one can be changed just a bit and then it can be masculine.  I used some Stampin' Up designed paper I had left over and a cupcake liner.  Along with two stamps and some Echo Park Paper Co. Ephemera Die Cut pieces that I just got at my local craft store.  It took me about 10 minutes to make this card.  But it is super cute and it looks like it took me hours.  Got love that!

I glued the envelope down and then used mounting tape under the No. 14 die cut, glued a small heart on top of that.  I then flattened the cupcake liner some what to make it into a circle shape and make a surface for the cameo to sit on top of.  I stuck it down with  a glue dot.  Added the Cameo with mounting tape and used Liquid Pearls to make her pearl earrings and headband.  I used my tag punch to make a pink tag and stamped my sentiment on it and used my black pen to make markings around it.  I then used silver Stickels to outline it.  Added some red and white bakers twin and mounting tape and TA DA !!    You can change the paper out and the cupcake liner for more masculine looking papers.  You could use a circle punch and use a complementary masculine paper to replace the liner.

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day.  Whether it be with your sweetheart or your best friends or both, may it be a great day!
Hugs, Heidi

2 for the "price of 1" to speak

I normally do not make or send Valentine's Day cards or Easter cards.  Just For Fun Stamps had some really cute hearts & bunny stamps that spoke to me.  Why?  Well, because they reminded me of candy.  I love candy hearts & probably me favorite candy next to Sugar Babies are Peeps!  When I say Peeps I mean stale Peeps.  When I bring them home I poke holes in the package & they are just right after a few days.  Crazy Huh?

Anyway I used the technique I am demonstrating at the Create-Your-Retreat event next month.  I will share the samples in my next blog post Feb. 25.

Here are my Valentine & Easter cards. Quick & Simple & I think I may send them to someone this year.

Love Letters Card

Hi everyone!  Heidi here with two cute cards for you for Valentine's Day.  I have been playing with more ink sprays and Glimmer Mist.  I love the sparkle you get with it.  FYI, you will have glitter all over you too!  But it was fun.  I used full sheets of paper, sprayed them with my sprays and also did some drips and splatters.  I used three different stamps, red glitter embossing powder and red ribbon with brads.  I gathered the ribbon to form a bow and then punched a small hole and put my brad in to hold it in shape.  That made it stay flatter for mailing.

Here is a list of supplies:

True love

stamps used:  couple silhouette, True love
Hello, it's Sue here to share a card and tag with you today all about celebrating Love.  For the background I laid a stencil on the maroon card and spread embossing paste through it.  I let this dry overnight but depending where you live an hour would probably be good.  Of course, I couldn't do just one ... I did a dozen...mainly because it's for a local card swap group I belong to and figured why not do swap and design team card at the same time...two with one stone as the saying goes.  Added ribbon to the card at the edge of the dried embossing paste and through the hole on the tag.  Layered the couple on circle dies and the saying with a punch.  I have discovered that all tapes do not stick to embossing pastes so it better if you use a good strong glue to hold the stamped piece.
Till next time...Ink it!  Stamp it!  Use it!

Happy birthday

This week was my sister's 40th birthday.
Shhhhh don't tell her I told you all her age!
To celebrate I made this fun and simple card.
I used the very cute Three Delightful Cupcakes stamp for the
adorable cupcakes on the middle of the card.
For the papers I hit up my scraps bin.

Have a fun and crafty weekend!

Hearts...and Flowers?

It's February already and we're thinking hearts and flowers.
But for my guy? I had to think clean and simple and no flowers.

I took my Stamptangle Pattern Block (J3713)
heat embossed with black EP,
and die cut hearts of different sizes.
Some polka dotted ribbon, Sentiments 1 (UMS7018) and
distress ink sponging, and my cards were ready to assemble.

As you can see, I ended up with three
Valentine's or Anytime Cards.
That is the beauty of a large background stamp image.
It gives and gives and gives.

See you soon!

Valentine Love

February is one of my favorite times to make cards.  I started making cards because I wanted them to be more personal and let friends and family know how special they are to me.  I want them to be extra special when they say “I love you”.

This Valentine’s card uses the Old Medicine Bottle and has the look of a shaker card.  It was stamped on two pieces of cardstock, one was cut out and layered over the other with a piece of acetate behind the cut out window and stamped cork to add to the look of the bottle.

I stamped and cut out the hearts from the Sentiment Hearts Mini Cube and layered these “inside” the bottle, popping up several of them.  Coordinating colored sequins were added inside and outside the bottle.

The Love Letters was stamped with Barn Door Distress Ink and edged with Spun Sugar and layered over the bottle.

I like to think whoever receives this card will feel truly special.
