America The Beautiful

This weekend many of you will be traveling to visit family for the upcoming 4th Of July holiday.  To get the celebration started I have four patriotic cards to share with you.

I have been playing with several techniques and this first card uses a smoosh technique with a ziplock bag.  I added Fired Brick and Faded Jeans Distress Ink to the bag and spritzed with water.  White cardstock was laid over the ink and then all of this is flipped over so you can manipulate the ink to help with coverage.  When this has dried, you can repeat the process to add more color.  Once the background was completed and dry the Striped Background was stamped with Versamark Ink and Sparkle Embossing Powder was added and heat set.

The Statue of Liberty Silhouette and America the Beautiful sentiment were stamped with the same inks on a rectangle and layered on the front.  This was added to layers of blue and black and three small, red buttons were added.

For the next three cards I did a similar background but the ink was placed directly on my work mat, spritzed, and the cardstock was dragged through the ink.  I was working towards creating a background for the Joseph’s Coat technique so once the background dried, the Fireworks Burst was stamped several times on the background with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with Sparkle Embossing Powder.

It was so pretty like this that I just added the fussy cut Statue of Liberty Silhouette.  The Home of the Free... sentiment was added to a layered flag across the top and three small red jewels on the bottom.

This card has the same background technique as the previous one but this time I completed the Joseph’s Coat technique by sponging Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink over the entire background, bringing out the fireworks.

On this final card, I used Distress Oxide Inks, which gave it a more muted look.

Have a wonderful time celebrating the upcoming holiday with friends and family and be safe!

Round Beach Themed Cards

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here again today and I've created beach cards using some amazing stamps.

I used the Relaxing in the Sand stamp.  Can't you see yourself sitting in that chair?  I colored the image before die cutting it into a circular card.  I matted it with a larger blue circle and added it to a black card.

I love this phrase - it is so appropriate.

I used the Grey Heron at Water's Edge, stamping it on white cardstock.  Using assorted markers, I colored the image before die cutting into a circular card.  A larger die was used for the black mat and a larger die for the blue card.  Finally, I used this phrase which worked really well with this stamp.

Thanks for stopping by.

Love You Latte

Today I am sharing a coffee themed window card.  It combines layers of cream, kraft, brown, and black with design from dies and an embossing folder.

The Water Ring was stamped with Tea Dye Distress Ink on cream cardstock.  This was used in the background of the card window and also for the sentiment.

The sentiment, A Latte, was stamped with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, and layered on brown cardstock.  Small coffee themed dies were cut from the brown cs and added to the window and card front, along with some sequins.

This is a great card to give to any of your coffee loving friends.

Tea Pot Is On...

I have been making several coffee and tea themed projects this week and wanted to share this sweet card.

I am a coffee drinker but one of my best friend’s only drinks tea.  When I saw the “Tea pot is on”...sentiment it reminded me of her and inspired this card.  It was stamped with Paris Dusk Memento Ink and layered on white using a Martha Stewart Border Punch on the sides.

The tea cup from the Coffee Unmounted Sheet was also stamped with Paris Dusk Memento Ink on two different cardstocks.  These were fussy cut and paper pieced.  This was centered on a white doily, die cut with Marianne DesignCreatables Designer Doily die.  Several small flowers, die cut with Sue Wilson's Camellia Open die, were added along with jewels.

When your week gets crazy, sit and have a cup of tea, hopefully with a friend.

Every Day is a Gift

Hello! It is designer April here today from Stampwilly Designs. I hope you are having a good day. Well, it is certainly beach weather, so I have a beach card to show you where I used the new Oxide Distress inks for the background.

I swiped yellow, green and blue colors directly on the card using the ink pads. I then spritzed the top of the card with water and let the water run down the card to blend the colors. I stamped the new stamp called Relaxing in the Sand on top and colored using my Zig markers. The saying is from the Sentiments 3 unmounted stamp sheet. I paper pieced the sun and added clear sparkle embossing powder to it for shimmer. You can see the sparkle better in the picture below.

You still have a few days left to join the challenge for this month. We would love to see your creations and you might even win a gift certificate to the store!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Remember every day is a gift and I hope you will truly have a great day!

Under the Sea - Adding sparkle to Distress Oxide backgrounds

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  If you are having any trouble getting results you like with your Distress Oxide backgrounds, I humbly suggest adding some sparkle.

The easiest way I have found to do this is to use Perfect Pearls mica powders.  This background was made starting with the same technique Tim Holtz has shown in many videos.  Smush your ink onto your surface, spritz with water and drag the paper through it.  Dry in between and repeat.  This is my twist on the technique, when you have your color down, get a bit of perfect pearls powder and add some water.  Use a brush and flick it all over your background.  At this point, I hope you will see your matte background come alive, like they did for me.

For this background I used two colors of gold Perfect pearls.  I love how it looks at different angles.  I used a lovely shell stamp from the Beach Unmounted Sheet and colored it with alcohol markers.  It was the absolute perfect thing to add the suggestion to my Clean and Simple "underwater scene."  The sentiment is from Sentiment Sheet 1.

Thanks so much for coming by! Hope you will come back often to see inspiration from the entire design team!

Can't get enough summer!

Hi Guys! Jen here from The Scrap Shack bringing you another beautiful card using the summer scenes stamps from Just For Fun! Today's card uses the "Grey Heron at Waters Edge" stamp as the main part and then I decided to top it off with the "May your day be filled..." sentiment stamp, which is not a new stamp but it's still a goody and it pairs perfectly with our newer ones.

So enough chatter, let's get to this card.

Is that not one of the best stamps you have seen in a while! I love it! The best news is that Just For Fun released a few of these "summer scene" stamps and they are all just as fabulous.

So for this card I started off with some CTMH ombre paper and then I simply added items from my stash, like those layered scallops. I stamped the image in a black ink and then colored it in using alcohol markers. I also added that sentiment to the white layer, prior to attaching it to the base.

Since I love the look of a framed image I took some Lagoon ink and inked all around edges of the white paper. Again using a couple more items from my stash I attached some brown ribbon and a few embellishments from that same CTMH paper line.

Thanks for stopping in today! I hope you were inspired to head out and create something beautiful. If you would like to see some more of my projects you can jump on over to my blog and say "Hello!"

Fireworks Fun

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here again today and I've created some fun projects using some amazing stamps.

Since we are near the 4th of July, I wanted to create some party cups that could be displayed on the party table.

These paper bowls were perfect to stamp the Fireworks stamp around.  There are 3 fireworks on the stamp so I inked them in assorted colors of ink, similar to what you might see when the fireworks go off.

I repeatedly inked the stamp and stamped it around the bowls until the bowls were covered.  Wouldn't these be a wonderful party gift for friends and family?

Next, I again used the Fireworks stamp to create 2 different cards.

I stamped one panel with yellow, red and orange fireworks then stamped a second panel with blue, red and purple fireworks.  I used sentiments from the Sentiments 1 stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by.

Nautical Father's Day Card

Hello!  Design Team member, Heidi, here today!  I want to wish all the dads out there a very Happy Father's Day!

The card I made for the occasion uses stamps from the Beach Unmounted Sheet stamp set.  It is quickly becoming one of my favorites.  For the main panel, I stamped the two seahorses in grey ink on patterned paper, then colored them with light blue marker.  The edges were sponged in light blue ink and then I added a navy mat.

The striped patterned paper was altered to add the cute ship wheel stamp with light blue ink.  I added a shell for my embellishment that was stamped on patterned paper and fussy cut.  After stamping Happy Father's Day, I added a brad and some enamel dots to finish the card off.

Hope you will join in our June Challenge, the theme is For the Guys!

Life is Better Around the Campfire

The fire is the main comfort of the camp, whether in summer or in winter. ~ Henry David Thoreau

It's even better with S'MORES!

I altered a rubber stamp to feature the JFF campfire rubber stamp and added the words "eat a s'more" with some tiny font stamps from my personal stash.

I combined two sketches for this challenge, the Mojo Monday #500 and Club Scrap's 6-2017 Idea Deck Challenge, to create my card. The inside features a pop-up using the camp laundry stamp image.

There's still lots of room for another sentiment or a note!

This month's challenge theme is For the Guys!

Adirondack Sunset - My Happy Place!

The heat is here and my favorite place to spend time is at the beach.  I love the feel of the sand on my bare feet and the breeze coming off of the ocean.  The Adirondack Sunset image, used on today’s card, definitely shows my happy place.

The background was created using the new Distress Oxide Inks.   Fossilized Amber, Faded Jeans, and Vintage Photo Oxide Inks were sponged on white cardstock.  The stamp image was lightly spritzed with water and stamped onto the inked background.  This was dried with a heat tool and then the image was stamped a second time with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

After stamping the sentiment, Secrets in the Sand, across the front, the image was added to layers of blue and yellow and designer cardstock.

Where is your happy place?
