Summer Dreams

E. Marie here with a summer silhouette card to share.  I have been laid up with knee surgery so fellow designer, April Williams, came over and she shared some fun techniques using alcohol inks.

We spent the afternoon making different backgrounds.  I used one of these backgrounds for today’s card.

The Pelican on Piling Silhouette was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on the front.  The Summer Dreams sentiment from The Seasons Word Block was stamped at the top with Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink.

A little twine was added, along with dark blue and Graphic 45 Designer cardstock layers on black.

Hope you are enjoying a long weekend of friends, family, and fun.

Because of the Brave

It’s the unofficial kickoff to summer, but, more importantly, Memorial Day is the holiday set aside to honor the hundreds of thousands of American service members who have died in battle throughout the globe protecting our nation and its freedoms. While many of us enjoy picnics and barbecues and a much-deserved day off, take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices that our nation’s heroes have made and continue to make for each of us.

“Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy forget in time that men have died to win them.” -Franklin D. Roosevelt

May we never forget that freedom isn't free. To the men and women of our armed forces, thank you for your service.

A Sailor is an Artist

Hi everyone Steph here today sharing a new card using some great stamps available from the store to create my card.

I stamped the Fishing Boat in black ink and colored it with Memento Markers.  Adding Nuvo Drops to the windshield created a faux windshield.  The panel was lightly inked and matted on red and black cardstock then a dotted panel before the card.

The phrase was stamped on a white panel and matted to coordinate with the card. It was then added with foam adhesives giving it some dimension.

Thanks for stopping by.

Lighthouse Card Idea - Calm Seas

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  I would like to share a card using one of the stamps from JFF’s latest release.  This stamp is called Striped Lighthouse and I really like this scene.  I paired it with the saying, Calm Seas.

I colored this stamp with alcohol markers.  For the sky, I used pointillism to add interest.  I die cut out the panel and arranged it over some nautical patterned papers.  I thought the sentiment panel would stand out nicely if I put it at the top on an angle.

Thanks for stopping by the blog!  Hope to see you again soon. In the meanwhile, hope you have time for stamping!

Birthday Shaker Card

It is April here today. I hope you are enjoying this month of May. May is always a nice month here. After May is gets really hot and humid here in the South! Today I want to share a fun shaker card I made. I made this shaker card flatter in order for it to go through the mail. The sequins still move around well inside.

For the background I used Color Bursts and spritzed them with water. Next I placed sequins on the background and adhered a piece of acetate over them, just gluing around the edges. I cut the blue frame using a Gina Marie die and adhered that over the acetate. I colored the Stamptangle Seahorse using Zig markers, fussy cut it and adhered it to the front of the card. I made a banner and stamped the saying on it and sponged some black ink around it. The saying is from the Sentiments 1 unmounted sheet.

I hope that you will join in this month's challenge. The theme is -- celebrate the women in your life!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Collage Heart

Happy Thursday!  Thanks for joining us today at Just for Fun Rubber Stamps.

I've been doing a lot of coloring lately with my colored pencils.  I generally stamp a full sheet of random stamps and then just mindlessly sit in front of the TV and color. Very therapeutic.  This card features the Collage Heart stamp colored with the dual tipped Chameleon pencils

Just for Fun stamps. Club Scrap papers. Elizabeth Craft Designs stitched die. Chameleon pencils.

Thank you for visiting today.  We would love for you to join our May challenge.  Link up those art projects with at least 3 layers that celebrate the women in your life.

Morning Coffee

E. Marie here with one more coffee themed card.  This card features four stamps from Just For Fun.  The Coffee and the Café images were heat embossed in white on brown cardstock and cut out.  The What's Brewing was stamped on kraft cardstock.

These were all layered on some special coffee paper that my friend shared with me from this special pad of paper she had.

I stamped the Water Ring on it in brown and added a variety of brown layers.

Relax, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy your weekend.

Friends and Flowers

Hi everyone Steph here today sharing a new card  using some great stamps available from the store to create my card.

I created a background using the Long Script stamp, stamping it repeatedly with brown ink until the background was complete.  I placed the panel on a kraft card and added a large die cut oval on top.

Next, I used the Daisy stamp, stamped it twice and colored them with Copic Markers.  Finally, I fussy cut them.  I also stamped and fussy cut the Small Canning Jar to use as a vase for the daisies.

Friends was die cut and added across the jar and a dew drop was added above the "i".

Thanks for stopping by.

What’s Brewing? A Coffee Card!

Hello from design team member, Heidi! I have a coffee themed card for you today!

This stamp is called Latte Love and it is one of my favorites.  The sentiment is What’s Brewing.  Just For Fun also has a whole section of coffee, tea and wine stamps that are a bit different than you see elsewhere.

I colored my stamp with alcohol markers, using colors from this patterned paper I wanted to use.  I then added Wink of Stella to the coffee, and Nuvo Drops glitter glue to the heart.

The background is Distress Oxides.  I nearly always coat my cardstock first with a light layer of gesso before I make this type of Distress Oxide smooshed background. I feel like I get better layers when I do this.

Then I just finished the card with the sentiment heat embossed on vellum.

Thanks for visiting today!

Warm Wishes

Hi! It is April here today. It is warming up nicely here in South Carolina and it makes me think of Charleston and the beach! My son lives in Charleston so we are able to visit the beach quite often. Also Hubby loves to deep sea fish and recently he caught many. Yum!

I had fun making this card. I used the Tri Circle frame and used the technique of paper piecing with it. I always love the look of this technique.
The playful dolphins were stamped on the large circle and colored with alcohol markers. The saying is from the Sentiments 2 unmounted sheet.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you are having a nice day!

Time to Relax

Can you believe it's May already!?  Time to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine before it gets too hot here in Cali.

Have you ever cut your rubber stamps to just use a portion?  To some crafters this is sacrilegious. To's getting more bang for my buck.  I trimmed a "Hole in One" golf quote into three different stamps.  I now have a birthday stamp, a relax quote and a golf sentiment.

Just for Fun stamps. Club Scrap papers and Stipple Mists. Paper Smooches cloud dies.

To create the background, I sprayed a pool of Stipple Mists on my glass mat and added water.  I used this as my "ink pad" and created a watercolor pine tree image.

Note: Try different papers for different effects. The above photo is on glossy paper.

There's still time to join us for our April Lace Challenge

Just upload your photo to our website by May 7th for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Just for Fun Rubber Stamp store.
