JFF June 2019 Challenge - Use a stencil!

Hello Everyone! It is design team member April here hosting this month's challenge. I love working with stencils because there are so many ways to use them on a project. For example you can sponge through them, use stencil pastes, stamp through them, use them with the gelli plates and so much more! I would love to see what you do with them.

I must say when I use this '57 Chevy stamp I always think of my dad. I remember the long trips we took each summer in his '56 Chevy to go visit my grandparents. We also traveled Route 66 for awhile on the way!

I made a retro background by rotating a stencil. The picture below shows the original look of the stencil.

First I sponged on Wild Honey Distress ink.

Then I turned the stencil a one quarter turn and sponged using Aged Mahogany Distress ink.

This is such a fun way to use a stencil. You never know what look you will get. I then used the Spellbinders Labels 4 die to cut out a shape from this piece.

I stamped the Open Highway background stamp and cut and colored the Route 66 sign and pop dotted it to the card.

I also stamped the City Skyline stamp behind the shape.
I hope that you will join in this challenge and let us see all the creative ways you use a stencil!

Have a wonderful day!

April

London Travels

Hi everyone Steph here today sharing a new card using some great stamps available from the store to create my card.

I came across this amazing London Tag stamp which I thought would be perfect to give someone who is traveling to England this summer.  I stamped it with brown ink then distressed it.  Tearing the bottom edge, I matted it with kraft cardstock.

The card was created from kraft cardstock and a panel of blue was added next.  I then added a panel of burlap before adding the tag to the card.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Seamstress

One of the things that initally drew me to JFF Stamps was the vintage images.

There is a vintage-retro stamp category in the online store, but there are vintage images scattered throughout each one of the different sections. The stamp image on my card is the Seamstress and I paired her with card stock from Club Scrap's May 2019 Damask kit. The collage had a clothespin holding a button, so I recreated the design using elements from my stash. This would make a great cover for one of my junk journals or a card for a crafty friend.

If you haven't joined us for the June 2019 challenge, you have until Monday July 1 to link up your stenciled creation!

Thanks for stopping by and I'll look for your artwork in our challenge gallery!

Eagle Scout Congratulations Card

Hello from design team member, Heidi.  I have a Patriotic Card to share today that I am using to congratulate a new Eagle Scout!

When I was thinking about the special card I wanted to make for this young man, I remembered a card that DT Member, Roni, made last year for our Red, White and Blue challenge.  You can see her card in this post.

I changed up the design to make it my own.  I stamped one of the Patriotic Block stamps 3 times, using a stamp positioner, to make the flag banner.

Then, I stamped and colored my Bald Eagle stamp, and carefully fussy cut out the image.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on navy cardstock.

I then arranged all my elements over an embossed piece of kraft cardstock.  I was very pleased how this turned out!

You can buy the stamps I used today at the JFF Online Store.  Remember that most of JFF’s stamps are available in your choice of wood-mount, cling-mount, or unmounted red rubber.

Congratulations available in Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet

Thanks for visiting the blog today!  Come again soon!

The Voice Of The Sea

Hi Everyone! It is April here showing a card I made that follows the challenge theme for this month of using a stencil. You still have time to join in. We would love to see what you create!

I love playing with stencils. There are so many fun ways to use them. On this card I used blue and purple watercolor crayons and colored directly on the back of the stencil. I spritzed the colors with water and placed the colored side down on a piece of watercolor paper, then gently lifted it off. I stamped the saying at the bottom, then stamped the Stamptangle Seahorse on a piece of orange card stock, fussy cut it and adhered it to the card. Sequins were added for interest.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Wishing you Calm Seas

Hi everyone Steph here today sharing a new card using some great stamps available from the store to create my card.

The background is a Long Script stamp, repeatedly stamped with distress ink on a white panel.  The panel was matted with kraft cardstock before being added to the card.

The Striped Lighthouse was stamped in black ink, colored with Memento Markers and die cut.  It was then added to a larger oval and added to the card.  The Calm Seas phrase was added across the bottom of the card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy Life

So many things around us inspire what we create.  I recently spotted an embossing folder that also cut out a hot air balloon window and bought it immediately.  I knew just what I wanted to do with it and this is the card I am sharing today.

Even with a plan, this card did take a while to make as I did little parts at a time.  I had made some backgrounds with alcohol inks and chose one that looked like sky and clouds and ran it through the folder.  I stamped the two balloons on the front and the heat embossed the Enjoy Life sentiment in white on the background layer, through the cut out window.  Acetate was placed behind the window and the embossed front was popped up to create a shaker window filled with sequins.

The Flower Balloon and the Steam Punk Balloon were stamped and colored with Tombow Markers.  The circular balloon and the basket from each were cut out and layered on the front stamped images.  A few more sequins were added.

These stamptangle designs are a lot of fun to color and worked great with this folder.

What inspires your cards?

You're Sweet

Happy Thursday, my crafty friends!  We're in the first week of June and it's already approaching 100 degrees here in Cali.  What a perfect time to make a few summer cards.

Just for Fun stamp. Cuttlebug embossing folder. Lawn Fawn die cut title. Nuvo drops. Club Scrap papers.

I found a color burst art orphan in my stash that would make a perfect background for ice cream bar.  Stamp the yummy ice cream on the background panel and fussy cut.  I cut off the sticks and used wood grained paper for a more realistic look.  Add Nuvo to image dots for dimension.  Die cut title, adhere to embossed card panel and cover with glitter Nuvo drops for sparkle.

Summery Drink Cards

Hello, Stampers!  This is design team member, Heidi.  I have a couple cards made with the Cool Drink stamp and with a background made with a gel press and stamps.

First the background.  I brayered craft paint onto my gelli plate, and then I used the citrus slice stamp to pick up the paint.  I stamped the paint off onto another piece of paper, and then repeated until I had filled the gel press with this negative image.  Then I placed a piece of cardstock over the gelli plate and rubbed all over to transfer the paint.

Then I stamped and colored the Cool Drink stamp. I used Wink of Stella to add glitter over the glass. The two sentiments I used are A Vacation Is... and Happy Birthday from Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet.

Now I am in the mood for some lemonade, how about you?

Thanks for visiting the blog today and hope to see you again soon!

Just Flyin' By

Hello! It is designer April here showing you a card that I made using the Fashion Warbler stamp and a flower stencil. This is my favorite bird stamp. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love birds!

For the background I used a stencil that had several flowers on it and I sponged over the stencil using purple, yellow and orange ink. I then layed other design stencils over the top of each flower and sponged with a darker color of ink to give the flowers more interest.

I stamped the bird, colored it with alcohol markers, fussy cut it and pop dotted it to the card. The saying is from the Sentiments 3 unmounted sheet.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope your day is great!
