Life's A Beach!

Oh how I love the beach! The beach was our family vacation destination every year. It is hit and miss getting us all together now that we are all grown up, but my Dad still plans a trip. Even if I can't make it, I love to see all the pictures of the fun!

JFF Stamps Surf"s Up stamp image and Calm Seas sentiment.
I made a simple card today - the Surf's Up silhouette stamp is perfect all by itself! The Calm Seas sentiment probably wasn't the best choice for a surfing scene, but I made the choice and I'm sticking to it. The gold embossing on the dark background with the gold pearl accents is pleasing to me... *sigh* I can almost smell the salt water now!

Flamingos in Paradise

Hi everyone Steph here today sharing a new card using some great stamps available from the store to create my card.

Using the Beach Flamingos, I inked them with Versafine Clair Ink in Purple Delight and used Versafine Clair Warm Breeze for the water.

Inking the panel with the same colors, I matted it with purple cardstock.

The Paradise sentiment was stamped with Warm Breeze and matted with purple cardstock before being added to the card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sweet Birthday Wishes

If you are like me, there is always a need for birthday cards, so I am sharing the latest one I created for a friend.

The Floral Wreath image was colored with Tombow markers.  The yellow card background was created with a die cut and then layered on Persimmon cardstock.  To create more dimension I chose to die cut a window and layer this over the image.  The same circle die and a slightly larger scalloped circle die were used to create the border around the window.  If you wanted a less labor intensive version, you could simply die cut the image with a circle die and layer on a scalloped die cut and add to the card front.  I also chose to have the bow at the top of the floral wreath.

The sentiment, Sweet Birthday Wishes, was stamped in black on a hand cut banner and layered across the image.  This helped fill the open window without covering up to much of the lovely floral wreath.

Have a great week.

Beachy Engagement Card

Hello from design team member, Heidi. My very good friend just recently got engaged, and he asked her at the beach!  Her happy place.  So, naturally, I wanted to make a themed engagement card to congratulate the happy couple.

I stamped my shells from the beach unmounted sheet in different neutral colors of Versafine ink, cut them out,  and colored them with sponges and distress inks.  Before that distress ink dried all the way, I brushed on some different colors of Perfect Pearls.  Then I set the Perfect Pearls by spritzing them with water.

You can see that the background was made by tearing papers and then layering them to look like the sea and the sand.  The sand is kraft paper that I stamped with the tattered screen background stamp. The water is a double-sided blue cardstock I had in my scrap box.

Since I was hand delivering this card, I added lots of bling. I thought the gems and pearls looks very bridal and pretty.

Don’t forget that JFF’s Monthly Challenge is By the Water!  I hope you will share a card with us, and there is a gift certificate up for grabs!   The linkup is here.

Have a wonderful day!

Dragonfly Dreams

Hi, it is April again showing you a card I made using this beautiful Modern Dragonfly stamp.

I stamped the dragonfly onto acetate and colored the back side with regular and pearl alcohol inks. The dragonfly was fussy cut and adhered to the background. The background was made by spritzing an embossing folder with water and placing it on watercolor paper. I lifted off the embossing folder and applied Color Bursts over the wet areas and let it dry. I made a banner for the saying that came from the Sentiments 1 unmounted sheet.

Couples Anniversary

I am loving my Distress Oxide Inks!  I took several days of crafting to work on my blending techniques and just fell in love with this color combination inspired by Kristina Werner.  The background blending uses Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Seedless Preserves. To complete the card I stamped the Couple at the River Edge silhouette stamp and added a title.

Just for Fun stamp. Ranger Distress Oxide Ink and die cuts. Club Scrap papers.

Drama Queen

Hurricanes are fickle and can shapeshift at the last minute.  Barry had a brief stint as a category 1 hurricane and has weakened to a tropical storm after making landfall today. No hurricane party here, just a bit of cabin fever making me a drama queen!

Adirondack Sunset

Hi everyone Steph here today sharing a new card using some great stamps available from the store to create my card.

Using the Adirondack Sunset stamp, I colored it with Copic Markers.  As it looks like a postcard, I matted it with blue cardstock before adding it to my card.

Wishing you calm seas stamp is a wonderful stamp I use often on my summer cards.  I matted the phrase and added to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.

Thanks for stopping by.

Silhouettes and Brushos

E. Marie here sharing a card created with Brushos and the Floral Silhouette stamp.  Solid stamps are great for dark silhouettes but also provide a great surface to add bright, colorful Brushos.

You can add Brushos by adding directly to stamp and then spritzing or you can paint them on.  I chose to make a rich paint in a pallet for each color and add to the stamp surface with a paint brush.  This was then stamped onto white cardstock.

The “bouquet of wishes” sentiment is from the Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet.  This was stamped below the image with Distress Oxide Ink.

Have a great weekend and try to stay cool!

Alcohol Ink Backgrounds for Water Looks

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  I am sharing a couple cards that are part of our By the Water Theme, which is our challenge this month!

My first card was started as an alcohol ink background, which I did on yupo paper. I think I prefer yupo over glossy paper for AI techniques, but they both work wonderfully.   I stamped my fishing father and child stamp over top of the background.  I then stamped, colored and cut out the fish and applied it to the bottom as a title.  The black card scrap was cut to look like a Polaroid frame.

Supplies: Just for Fun Rubber Stamps Father & Child Fishing stamp, Fishing Title stamp

My second card uses the rest of the sheet of the very same alcohol ink background.  I simply stamped my sailboat over the background, and voila!  A very pretty masculine card!

Stamps:  Worst Day Fishing Sentiment, Sailboat Silhouette stamp.

Hope you will enter the challenge!

Hi, it is April here today showing you a thank you card I made using a fun background technique.

I covered an acrylic stamping block with clear tape, first taping the bottom of the block horizontally and then vertically. I stamped the block onto a multicolored stamp pad and then stamped the block onto white card stock. I love the distressed plaid look it gave.

Next I stamped the bicycle stamp over the background and added the saying from the Sentiments 1 unmounted sheet, at the top. Black  enamel dots were added for interest.

We would love to see what you create for our challenge that is going on this month. The theme is "At The Shoreline." You might even win a gift certificate to our store!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great day!

Independence Day

Happy Fourth of July my crafty friends! I hope you have a safe holiday!

Last month's challenge was to create cards using stencils.  I seemed to have gotten carried away and created numerous backgrounds.  This Firecracker stencil (sold out) is one of my favorites from Club Scrap and absolutely goes perfect with the Just for Fun Statue of Liberty silhouette stamp. I'm traveling to NYC in a few months and can't wait to use this stamp on a few scrapbook pages as well.

Just for Fun stamp. Club Scrap stencil and star embellishment. Cricut Independence circle. Dazzles star stickers.
