Sunsets and Dreams

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today and I've used 2 lovely stamps that work so well together - Sunset with Palms and to watch a sunset. 

I've created 2 different cards - a circular card and a standard card with these stamps.

 

Using Spellbinders dies, I created this circular card.  I stamped the image on white cardstock and die cut it to fit the card.  First, though, I fussy cut around the palm leaves so they would not be cut off. 

 

I selectively colored the image with assorted Zig markers.  I then stamped and matted the image to fit across the bottom of the card.  For some dimension, I added it to the card with foam adhesives.

I really love this image so I created a second card using a standard A7 sized.  Rather than being circular I made it more of a rectangular shape.

I stamped and colored the image a little differently with Zig markers, then matted the panel with black cardstock.  I added the panel to some pattern paper then adhered it to the card.

 

The sentiment was stamped and matted with black cardstock and added to the card with foam adhesives.

 

I believe you can almost imagine sitting on a beach enjoying this sunset, don't you?

Hidden I Love You Valentine

Hey y'all! Happy Valentines Day!! Jenna here again to share a Valentine card that's super quick and easy to make for a crafter of any level!

For this card I decided to use the StampTangle Teardrop Heart. I love the large size and detail of this image. It makes a great focal image. 

I stamped the image with my Versa Mark ink on a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock and clear heat embossed it. Next I used Candy Apple Distress Ink and blended it onto my embossed heart. I concentrated the color more towards the center letting it fade as I went outside the heart.

Next is my favorite part. I took a "love you" die and cut it out of the center of the heart along with 3 more out of a piece of white cardstock. I stacked all the words to create dimension. 

Next I attached my main panel to a piece of patterned paper and inlaid my die cut. I kept the insides of all my letters from my panel and glued them into place as well.

Lastly I attached the whole thing to an A2 card base.

I love the way this turned out. It was my first time trying this technique out and combined with the design in the heart it created a really cool 3D optical illusion look, however, this would work great with any larger image!

It's Time For Love

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays and only one day away.  I’m not sure which I love more – roses or chocolates.  Today’s card combines another favorite, black and red, and uses three images from Just For Fun’s latest release.

Cupid's Arrows was stamped in red on two sides of the card front. This was layered on black and the white card base.  A red strip, embossed with hearts, was layered on black and added across the center.

The Postal Hearts-2 Sided stamp was used to stamp the two heart images in black.  The roses were colored with Copic Markers and a little grey shading was added.  These were fussy cut and centered on the card front.

It’s not too late to get creative for Valentine’s Day.  How do you show your love?

Shimmer and Sparkle Valentine

Hey y'all Jenna here. Feels good to be back. Had to take a break from the blogging and crafting world for a bit due to some family stuff but I am back and have loads of inspiration to share!

Today I have a fun Valentine's Day card I created using a stamp from JFF's newest release and one of their older stamps. The heart is one of 2 hearts in a new set called French Postal Hearts, and I used the Love stamp slightly overlapping.

I started my card by creating my main panel. I used a piece of Nina Solar White cardstock cut down to 5"x3 3/4" and used a tiny heart stencil to create a background. I used my Bo Bunny Glitter paste and tinted it with both some Candy Apple and Wilted Violet Distress Inks . Its hard to tell in the pictures but i tried to overlap and blend the two colors towards the center. 

Once I was happy with my background, I set that aside to dry. I grabbed a piece of shimmering vellum and used silver embossing powder to heat emboss first the heart, and then the word Love, slightly overlapping the heart. I trimmed the strip down leaving some extra on the sides so I could fold it over my panel and glue it on the back. That way I didn't have to worry about and pesky glue showing through this gorgeous vellum!

Before attaching my panel to my A2 card base I layered it to a piece of black and white striped cardstock for contrast. Finally I attached the entire thing to my card base. 

I wish you could see all the shimmer and sparkle that this simple card gives off! Its subtle but definitely noticeable.

Happy Valentine's Day

It is April here again today wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day. I hope your day will be very special. Here is a card I made using the StampTangle Teardrop Heart.  This stamp is so lovely, don,t you think?

I stamped the heart on pink card stock using Versa Mark ink. I added white embossing powder and heat set it and fussy cut the heart. The heart was adhered on the white heart embossed background. I used a Martha Stewart border punch and layered it three times on the bottom of the card. I then added pink gingham, ribbon and bow, and three white enamel dots.

*New Release* Stamps - Fox and Panda!

Hello from Design Team member, Heidi!  Today, I am really thrilled to share a few cards using stamps from the Spring 2017 New Release!  I immediately had to ink up the stamps from the Panda and Fox Hearts set and several of the sweet new sentiments.

I colored these foxes up with colored pencils.  I made them into a very traditional Valentine - even some glitter on the hearts.

Then, I thought I would imagine some really wild-looking foxes and colored these with water-based markers.  I think they are a fun couple!  This is going to be sent out to a teen.

Lastly, I used some glimmer mists and sprayed them onto regular cardstock.  When it dried, I stamped the sweet Panda.  I also stamped him onto plain cardstock so I could paper piece him.  This would have made a lovely Valentine, but I decided that either of these stamps would look great as a birthday card, so that is the sentiment I added.

Happy Valentine's Day Friends!!

Patchwork Valentine

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  My idea for this Valentine came from my need to use up some scraps from one of my Valentine themed paper pads.  Every time I got it out, the pieces would fall out all over.  (Surely I am not alone in this problem?)

So I decided to make an easy patchwork background with them.

I used a small square die to cut 6 different patterns of scraps.  I could have easily used my trimmer or a punch to cut them, too.  Then, I cut a piece of paper to the size of a cardfront.  I spread glue stick over the paper and then applied a row of squares and repeated the process until the full sheet was covered.  I then trimmed it down to the size I wanted.

Tips: Choose one of your adhesives, like a glue stick or liquid glue, that has more of an open time to move your square to the exact right spot.   Also, you may want to consider using a sheet of paper for the base that is similar to the colors of the patterned paper.  Then if you have some slight gaps, they are less noticeable.

The Be My Valentine sentiment is a nice, large focal point.  I really like it because it is a font good for children.

I stamped some candy conversation hearts on to various scraps and used them as my embellishments. I really love how sweet they are!

Sponged Landscaping Tag

I know you have heard me say it so many times before, but I am hoping today's post proves it. The landscaping stamptangle stamp is amazing!! I simply love all of the detail and the fact that whether I am coloring or simply stamping it always looks amazing!

Here check it out for yourself.

For this card I heat embossed this stamped image using white embossing powder and a heat gun. This gives the image a very crisp look.

After I had the imaged raised and glossy I took some Fern and Peacock inks along with my tim holtz round sponge and I got to work inking the entire tag. I started with the darkest color in the bottom corner and then I worked the lighter Fern green into it.

UPS delivered my new Spectrum Noir alcohol markers on my doorstep Wednesday and I had to use them! Shhhhh! This was my first attempt using them...but I did watch a ton of tutorials prior to testing them out on paper. A little more practice and they might just become one of my favorite mediums! (Check out my blog later today and I'll post more details.)
